Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Trent Hackney Salvation Testimony

Trent Hackney was saved by God’s amazing grace in 2013 out of a very wretched lifestyle that included drug use and a prison sentence. I grew up in a Christian home with very godly parents and went to church every Sunday. I never liked going to church but my parents made me. I got baptized when I was 12 years old but it didn’t mean anything. I just did it because I didn’t want to be left out. I cannot remember not owning a Bible but I never read it or cared to. I had no interest in the things of Christ and lived for myself. I thought I was saved but often wondered because of the way I lived. I had convinced myself that I was saved because I believed in Jesus and that He died on the cross for my sins. After all, what kid growing up in church doesn’t believe in Jesus? But that alone is not salvation. Where was repentance in all that? I had never repented. I had never turned from my sin. Once I moved out of the house I never went to church and was thrilled about that. When I finally came to the end of myself and started to read Gods Word I quickly came to the realization in the book of James that faith without works is dead. In plainer words Christ did not die on the cross so I could live any ole way I wanted. I repented of my sins toward God and trusted in Christ alone and His sacrificial death on the cross for the forgiveness of my sins. God changed me radically from the inside out by giving me victory over the sin and addictions and is a decision I have never regretted. I am so thankful the Lord saved me (the chief of sinners) words can’t even describe. You don’t have to dig very deep to find a lot of dirt on me from my past but I am what I am and God’s grace has not gone without effect. When I surrendered and got saved, instantly the Lord took my foul mouth away from me and many other things. I now love the things I used to hate and hate the things I used to love. Once saved God gave me a strong love for His Word. Ever since I was saved while at Dallas County Jail awaiting a 2 year prison sentence I have devoured Gods inerrant, infallible Word an average of about 6 hours a day. I literally wore out a Way Of Life Encyclopedia my first year at TDC. Since my release in August 2015 God has restored me tenfold. Often times the breaking of us is the making of us. If you have not repented of your sins and trusted Christ (Been Born Again John 3:3) I urge you to humble yourself before Almighty God and do so now before it is too late. 56 million people die each year in the world, all making plans for next week no doubt.  A few of my favorite excerpts/quotes:

Saving faith includes repentance. Repentance is not doing anything. It is not a deed, act, work, or rite. Rather, it is a change of the direction of one’s heart. It basically means an attitude of the heart in turning from sin and self and turning to God. That’s what Paul was referring to in Acts 20:21 when he referred to ‘repentance toward God and faith in [toward] our Lord Jesus Christ.’ Saving faith is the human heart turning to God and then trusting in Jesus Christ. … Even as there is the part of trusting Christ, there is also the part of turning to Him. That may seem inconsequential, but I believe that here is a spiritual reason that some go through the motions of believing in Christ but are not really born again. They seemingly want the fire escape but there is no interest in turning to God. There is no interest in repentance. They have the attitude, ‘God, gimme salvation, but I’m gonna keep on doing my own thing.’ … However, if there is no real turning to God from the heart, they have missed the prerequisite for actually trusting Christ” (Sorenson, Training Your Children to Turn out Right, 1995).

“Repentance is a godly sorrow for sin. Repentance is a forsaking of sin. Real repentance is putting your trust in Jesus Christ so you will not live like that anymore. Repentance is permanent. It is a lifelong and an eternity-long experience. You will never love the devil again once you repent. You will never flirt with the devil as the habit of your life again once you get saved. You will never be happy living in sin; it will never satisfy; and the husks of the world will never fill your longing and hungering in your soul. Repentance is something a lot bigger than a lot of people think. It is absolutely essential if you go to heaven” (Lester Roloff, Repent or Perish, 1950s).

Knowing God’s Will

Below are some of Trent Hackney’s favorite Bible verses:

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16

Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way. Psalm 119:128

21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8

I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2 Timothy 4:1-4

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 1 Corinthians 15:3-6

Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 20:21

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:3

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour. Isaiah 43:11

23 Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord. Jeremiah 9:23-24

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:9-13

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? John 14:9

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Hebrews 4:12-13

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Ephesians 5:11

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? Proverbs 1:22

43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Mark 9:43-44

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. Jude 3

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:19-20

I have so many more favorite verses there just isn’t enough room to list them all!

I hold to the King James Bible (Authorized Version) and believe that it is the preserved Word of God for the English language and without error. Just as God promised ” The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. Psalm 12:6-7

I am a fundamental Baptist and militant for the truth. I also believe in exposing error and false teachers in a bold way, especially in the times we are in where heretics and compromisers are every where.
